Honkules: Foul Resurrection

Honkules: Foul Resurrection is a wave based, rougelike action game where players must battle through 10 increasingly chaotic rounds against swarms of absurd enemies. Players can battle enemies with weapons of their choice as well as upgrade their character the more rounds they last!

Project Overview

Honkules was the final module of my second year at university, developed over five weeks in Unreal Engine 5 by a team of 10+ students. The project simulated a professional studio environment, with team members based in London and Stoke, which required strong communication and collaboration skills. As a Junior Technical Designer, I contributed to gameplay systems including obstacle spikes and a character dash, while actively participating in weekly meetings to track progress, report updates, and receive new task assignments from the tech lead.

The implementation of these mechanics required communication with the design team as I needed guidance on important paramaters such as, how much damage should the spikes do, or how far should the character dash. Due to the effective team skills, I was able to take their ideas, as they planned, and materialise them within the engine in the most efficient way possible.
